Baked Macaroni and Cheese with Bacon

Baked macaroni cheese with bacon is a very easy recipe to prepare. The ingredients are one package of penne macaroni, three cups of shredded cheddar cheese, three slices of bacon, three tbsp butter, two cups of milk, and two tbsp of flour. Also, you’ll want to have one chopped onion, four cloves, minced garlic, and salt and pepper on hand for added flavor.

Cook the macaroni until it is al dente. Drain and set aside. Cut the bacon into long strips. Cook bacon strips in a skillet on medium until they are browned evenly. Set the cooked bacon aside. Sauté the onions and garlic in butter in a medium sized skillet. Remove from heat and add the cooked bacon strips. For the white sauce, melt butter in a saucepan and fry the flour for two minutes in the melted butter. Add milk gradually and stir continuously. Add two cups of shredded cheese and keep stirring until the sauce thickens. Now, add the cooked macaroni, bacon, and vegetables, and cook for a minute.

Preheat the oven to 350 degree F. Grease a baking dish and pour the macaroni, cheese and bacon mixture into the baking dish. Spread the remaining cheese over the top and bake for 20 minutes until the topmost cheese layer melts. Serve up a delightful meal of baked macaroni and cheese with bacon.
