Restaurants Famous For Macaroni and Cheese

Many restaurants feature macaroni and cheese as an entrée or side dish, but there are some that are actually famous for their macaroni and cheese. Others devote their entire menu to variations of this dish.
New York City is home to two macaroni and cheese restaurants. Located in Manhattan’s East Village, S’MAC, an abbreviation for Sarita’s Macaroni and Cheese, is owned by Caesar and Sarita Ekya. S’MAC’s offers diners the choice to eat in, take out, or have their macaroni and cheese delivered to their home. Orders can even be placed online. This fun macaroni and cheese eatery is decorated in shades of yellow and orange to match the food served. The dishes range from basic macaroni and cheese to gourmet varieties, including Cheeseburger, Mediterranean, Alpine, and Cajun. There are four sizes available for each of the varieties of macaroni and cheese. The Nosh and Super Nosh sizes are enough for one to three people to eat as a snack or small meal. The Mongo and Partay! sizes can be ordered for larger numbers of people.

Supermac is another New York City macaroni and cheese restaurant and is located on 7th Avenue near Penn Station. Supermac serves classic and gourmet varieties of macaroni and cheese. Each dish can be ordered with or without breadcrumbs and with white or whole wheat pasta. There are also low fat versions of macaroni and cheese. Each of the varieties comes in two sizes, Mini Mac and Mega Mac. Lobster, steak and shrimp are a few of the ingredients used in Supermac’s gourmet macaroni and cheese dishes.
On the west coast, Chef Ryan Johnston of Del Mar’s Blackhorse Grille in Del Mar, California is famous for his macaroni and cheese made with a Cheddar Mornay, or white, sauce. Johnston’s recipe also includes scallions and bacon.
Edna Stewart, together with her father and ex-husband, started Edna’s Restaurant in 1966. Located in Chicago’s West Side, Edna’s Restaurant is famous for American home-style cooking, with the macaroni and cheese being one of the customers’ favorite dishes.
Delilah Winder’s restaurant, Delilah’s, is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Winder shared her recipe for her famous macaroni and cheese on Food Network’s show, Throwdown with Bobby Flay. This macaroni and cheese recipe, which serves sixteen, calls for a combined total of eleven cups of cheese. Yellow Cheddar, white Cheddar, mozzarella, Asiago, Monterey Jack, muenster, and Velveeta cheeses are all used in Windsor’s macaroni and cheese.
